IPCC Clarifies on Erroneous Report

IPCC Clarifies on Erroneous Report

The Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change, headed by Rajendra Pachauri, has been facing severe criticism for having presented erroneous evidences on climate change.

"There's been a lot of talking about climate change. It's an area under strict scrutiny", he said.

He admitted, at the annual meeting of the Inter-American Development Bank, that his panel has made some mistakes. He clarified that they have already started rectifying those errors.

The fourth assessment report presented by the panel has been denounced for wrongly claiming that the Himalayan glaciers are under a threat of melting. The group has also been censured as the emails exchanged between the climateexperts have been made public by a hacker that depict the experts concealing and misinterpreting evidences.

Yvo de Boer, a United Nations official, said that there is an urgent need of progress in the follow-up summit to Copenhagen, which is scheduled in November.

He is of the view that it will be difficult for the rich nations to raise funds for the assistance of developing countries in their efforts of reducing global warming.
